ALL NEW PHOTOS AND SUMMARIES BELOW AS AT MAY 2011
NAME: Neil Slaughter
[Assistant
manager]
POSITION : On the bench /
sidelines
Hoops was a sporting outcast until
he reached 38 years of age. Nowadays he is perhaps the most famous Carpeteer of all
time. His continued dedication to supporting the team and also his helping of
running matters behind the scenes has led him to become assistant manager. He
does have a 3rd division winners medal and a Championship winning medal to his
name which many players at Cornwall 6 a side still have not achieved. He has
even pinched a couple of goals along the way on his rare substitute appearances
[ his first goal came from the penalty spot vs Teddingtons on 23/11/2007. He
suffered a serious knee injury during 2009 while playing for Niles Bakery and he
only returned to the pitch during the latter stages of 2010.
In 2011 Hoops has continued to support the Carpeteers while rejecting offers
from other teams for his services.

NAME: Gavin Kitts
NAME:
Craig Phillips
POSITION :
Striker
Craig is the Carpeteers top scorer of all time and he continues to create havoc
for defenders with his strength and precise finishing. Originally signed from
the now deceased Poltair Preds team after a dispute with then manager Lee
Langford, Carps player/manager Ricko was quick to move in and sign
Craig, the official paperwork being completed in St Austell's shoezone shop. He
did however play his first Carps game on 16th March 2007 as a stand in [ and scored in a 1-0 win over Neil Truan
Motors ] but on his official debut Craig hit two goals against St Stephens in the cup QF on 17th August 2007.
He has recently perfected his free kicks, scoring goals from all over the pitch
with his team believing that a Craig Phillips free kick is as good as a
penalty.
He can also play in goal or defence and so importantly, he is one of those
players that can change a game.
NAME:
Ricko
Barker [Captain
/ Manager]
POSITION : Defender/ Midfield
Ricko is the only survivor from the group of
players that set the Carpeteers up during the summer of 2006 and has done a good
job of taking the team from bottom division strugglers to premiership title
contenders. There's been up and downs, highs and lows along the way [ including
friendships pushed beyond the limit ] but it all seems to have paid off with
Carpeteers better than ever in 2011. Ricko's signings included Gareth Geach,
Craig Phillips, Chris Warburton and Gavin Kitts along the way, and with Andy
Geach also joining the fray, these are the main players to have helped
Carpeteers get to where they are today. Ricko is happiest in midfield with his
driving engine working up and down the pitch but in 2011 he has become what some
consider, Carpeteers main defender [ now that Warbz has left ] and he has a big
job to do at the back in the coming matches if Carps are to remain near the top.
OTHER PLAYERS WHO HELP OUT THE TEAM
NAME:
Steven Dash
POSITION : Midfield
"Dashy" is not a first team member of the squad
but like Anthony Stone and Scott Laughton, he is brought in when the first team
is short. Dashy can do a good job in the midfield with his quick feet and good
passing game. When he gets a chance in front of goal his left leg can be a
dangerous piece of equipment. He has settled into the Championship playing for
Real so so Bad in recent months but can very much do a job for the Carpeteers
when called upon and they are grateful for his services.

POSITION : Midfield
"Stone" used to ply his trade
with the Poltair Predators alongside Craig Phillips. It was a very effective
partnership but Stone has been at a loose end since the Preds folded during
early 2010. He has since been brought back to help the Carps out in midfield on
many occasions and is very much a handful with his excellent passing game. He
can also find the back of the net with his quick movement finding lots of space.
Real so so Bad and Dinner Ladies [in a lower division] are all after Stone's
services as 2011 gathers momentum.
POSITION : Defence
Dan Bray is a rare thing in that he is
a decent defender, and they are hard to come by at Cornwall 6 a side. Carps have
been impressed by his performances as a stand in for the sometimes absent Warbz
or Ricko. He is also good at going forward with the ball into attack. He wont be
joining the Carpeteers full time as he is contracted to Parkside Motors in a
lower division but he will be tapped up on many occasions by the Carps as the
2011 season progresses.
FORMER PLAYERS
POSITION : Midfield / Striker
Scott was player of
the tournament when the Carps took a chance with him at the 2010 Luke Jago
Memorial Tournament. His 7 goals helped Carps to see off plenty of stiff
competition and has been highly regarded by Carpeteers management for a long
time since his Poltair Predator days. Scott can fill in up front, in the middle
or even in goal. His left foot can also take a decent free kick and he has
already scored 8 goals for Carpeteers in the handful of matches that he has
played.
Chris Warburton - Carpeteers highest regarded
defender ever sadly had to leave the team in May 2011 due to work commitments.
His debut for Carps was winning the Lee Jago tournament trophy in summer 2010.
Carl Webster - Left at end of 2009 after 4 years with the team. Scored over 30
goals, had 2 title winning medals and came back during summer 2010 and helped
guide Carpeteers to the Lee Jago memorial trophy victory.
Dan Ozzie Osbourne
-
Goalkeeper for 6 seasons at Carps winning 3rd Divison
and Championship winners medals before signing for Chesney United
in December 2008.
As predicted and was inevitable, he got
bored and retired from 6 a side at the end of 2010.
Jim Martyn
-
Contract terminated November 2008. Won Div 3 and Championship
winners medals with Carpeteers..
Richard Golley
- Left during 2007 due to a dispute over the signing of striker Craig Phillips.
Dan Nicholls
- Former wannabe striker left the team in 2007
after falling out of favour and became goalkeeper of
Tornadoes/Parkside Motors.
Luke Styles
-
Left the team during 2007.
James Triggs
-
Left the team at beginning of 2007.
